Jets’ Patrik Laine could return Tuesday vs. Sharks

Winnipeg Jets head coach Paul Maurice says they’ve pushed Patrik Laine really hard at practice, and he’s responded really well, and could be ready for Tuesday’s 2nd game of the club’s back-to-back.

Winnipeg Jets rookie Patrik Laine has responded well to an increased workload and could return to the lineup as early as Tuesday against the San Jose Sharks, according to head coach Paul Maurice.

The news comes just one day after Laine was cleared for contact, allowing him to participate in his first full practice since suffering a concussion back on Jan. 7, when he was injured after a big hit from Buffalo Sabres defenceman Jake McCabe.

The 18-year-old would provide a boost to a struggling Jets team, as his 21 goals are tied for the team lead with Mark Scheifele, and his 37 points put him second in NHL rookie scoring, trailing only the Maple Leafs’ Auston Matthews in goals and points.
