Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brayden Point is back in the lineup, ready to make his season debut against the Toronto Maple Leafs Thursday night.
Point was recovering from hip surgery over the summer, with the team announcing last month that he was expected to miss the start of the 2019-20 season. His return Thursday night is slightly ahead of schedule, as he was initially expected to be cleared to play by late October.
Point is just few weeks removed from signing a three-year, $20.25-million contract with the Lightning. The 23-year-old is coming off an incredible season that saw him hit career highs in goals (41), assists (51) and points (92) as one of Tampa Bay’s most lethal offensive weapons.
The Lightning have stumbled out of the gates a little, losing back-to-back games after starting the season with a win.
