The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled forward Trevor Moore from the Toronto Marlies on an emergency basis, the team announced Sunday.
Moore leads the Marlies with 17 goals in 27 games this season and is third on the team in points with 24. This will be the third call-up for Moore this season after the Leafs recalled him twice in November. The 23-year-old is expected to make his NHL debut on Sunday against the Detroit Red Wings.
The move comes after the team confirmed that forward Tyler Ennis suffered a broken ankle during Saturday’s win over the New York Rangers. The Leafs are also without Zach Hyman who suffered an ankle sprain earlier this week and is expected to miss the next three weeks.
The California native, who joined the Maple Leafs as a free agent in 2016, put up 33 points through 68 games last year, followed by a 17-point effort during the Marlies’ 20-game championship run.
Justin Holl will also play in his second game of the season as reported by Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston.
