The Toronto Maple Leafs are set to sign forward Nic Petan to a two-year deal, Sportsnet’s Irfaan Gaffar reports.

Petan, 23, was acquired by Toronto at the 2019 trade deadline in exchange for depth forward Par Lindholm.

Through three appearances in a Leafs sweater, the forward has one goal to his name, after posting two assists through 13 games at the NHL level with Winnipeg this season. He’s playing out a one-year deal carrying a cap hit of $874,125.

Petan was originally drafted 43rd overall by the Jets back in 2013 — the Delta, B.C. native has a total of 111 big-league games on his resumé with 24 total points in that span.
