Maple Leafs sign forward Pontus Aberg to one-year deal

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed free agent forward Pontus Aberg to a one-year contract. He will make $700,000 at the NHL level next season.

Aberg, 25, split last season with the Anaheim Ducks and Minnesota Wild, where he had 12 goals and 25 points.

Originally a second-round pick by the Nashville Predators in 2012, Aberg has 17 goals and 43 points in 127 career games with the Predators, Edmonton Oilers, Ducks and Wild.
