The Toronto Maple Leafs signed forward Semyon Der-Arguchintsev to a three-year, entry-level contract Friday night.
Der-Arguchintsev was selected by the Maple Leafs in the third round (76th overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft in June.
The team announced the signing following a 5-3 victory over the Buffalo Sabres in pre-season action, a game in which Der-Arguchintsev made his NHL debut.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 18-year-old centre is expected to be sent back to junior for his third season with the OHL’s Peterborough Petes. One season ago he registered 12 goals and 39 assists in 68 games with the Petes.
