Moulson returns to Sabres on five-year contract

Hockey Central anaylsis on Matt Moulson signing back with the Buffalo, as the Sabres are all of a sudden looking like a competitive club.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Matt Moulson is returning to Buffalo, signing a US$25-million, five-year deal with the Sabres.

The goal-scoring winger who was traded twice last season, first from the New York Islanders to the Sabres for Thomas Vanek and then to the Minnesota Wild, reportedly has a no-trade clause in this contract.

Moulson had 23 goals and 28 assists last season. In 394 career games, the 30-year-old has 141 goals and 134 assists.

The Sabres also signed Brian Gionta from Montreal and made a deal with the Canadiens for defenceman Josh Gorges.
