NHL players, fans having trouble getting used to new faceoff violations

The Hockey Central panel breaks down the new rule for face offs, which has viewers and some players baffled.

Having trouble adjusting to the NHL’s new faceoff violation rule? You’re not alone.

The league decided to implement stricter enforcement of the faceoff procedure over the summer, which can be found under Section 10 (titled “Game Flow”) in the official NHL Rulebook.

There were faceoff violation penalties all over the map Monday night during pre-season action, including three minor calls in the first 24 minutes of the Leafs-Sens game. If you were scrolling through Twitter during the games, you would’ve come across a lot of vitriol directed at the new rule.
