Oilers’ broadcast schedule released

Shawn McKenzie reports from Sportsnet where Rogers announces their broadcast team for the upcoming NHL season.

TORONTO — From the first puck drop to the final whistle, Edmonton Oilers fans will get a front row seat to all 82 games this season on Sportsnet and Rogers.

The Oilers’ regular season broadcast schedule, featuring 32 national games and 50 regional games, gets underway on Sportsnet at 7:30 p.m. MT on Thursday, Oct. 9 as the Oilers host the Calgary Flames in the season’s first Battle of Alberta. (See full broadcast schedule below).

Sportsnet’s regional television broadcast schedule kicks off on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 8:30 p.m. MT on Sportsnet West as the Oilers head south to take on the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings.

Sportsnet West will be home to 42 regional Oilers games, with 10 regional games airing on Sportsnet Oilers, the Sportsnet ONE companion channel. Kevin Quinn returns to the broadcast booth to call play-by-play, while host Gene Principe reports from rinkside.

Drew Remenda joins the NHL on Sportsnet broadcast team as analyst, working alongside Quinn. The five-time Northern California Emmy Award winner was part of the San Jose Sharks broadcast team for more than 14 years, and also served as an analyst on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada.

“I’m thrilled to be returning to Canada and to be joining the crew at Sportsnet,” said Remenda. “The Oilers are an exciting young team, and I look forward to working with Kevin to call the games.”

Highlights from Sportsnet’s regional Oilers schedule include:

– Back-to-back games against Pacific Division rival Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday, Dec. 10 and Friday, Dec. 12

– Seven all-Canadian showdowns on Sportsnet West and Sportsnet Oilers

– Five matchups against the defending Stanley Cup champions Los Angeles Kings.

Rogers will air 32 national Edmonton Oilers matchups this season. Highlights from the Oilers national broadcast package include:
