Penguins re-sign defenceman Jamie Oleksiak to 3-year contract

The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed defenceman Jamie Oleksiak to a three-year contract. The contract carries an average annual value of $2,137,500.

Oleksiak, 25, was acquired by the Penguins in December from the Dallas Stars. The former-first round pick had a career year last season, posting five goals, 17 points and a plus-13 rating in 68 games.

In 187 games with the Stars and Penguins, Oleksiak has 11 goals and 36 points.

Oleksiak is the older brother of Canadian Olympic swimmer Penny Oleksiak.
