Phil Kessel’s Pittsburgh home is for sale…and we have questions

Phil Kessel‘s time with the Pittsburgh Penguins came to an end last month when the three-time all-star was dealt to the Arizona Coyotes.

The 31-year-old’s change of scenery will also mean a change of address, and Kessel recently got that process underway by putting his suburban Pittsburgh home on the market for a cool $2.1 million.

The 8,000 square foot house has much of the lavish features you’d expect to see in the home of an NHL star: five bedrooms, 7.5 bathrooms, three-plus acres of land, “stunning hardwood floors,” a kitchen that is a “chef’s dream,” a workout room and, of course, a pool.

But our favourite feature of the house is the theatre room on the home’s lower level, which is decorated in the most Phil Kessel way imaginable.

That’s right. In a theatre room with “auditorium style seating” and a 120-inch movie screen, Phil The Thrill has a set up of A SINGLE CHAIR! It’s not even a La-Z-Boy. And the photo above shows no hint of an ottoman.

Now it’s entirely possible – and likely – this travesty of comfort is a part of the real estate agent’s staging process, but it’s a lot more fun to imagine Phil lounging in that big theatre by himself catching up on the latest season of Stranger Things.
