The New York Rangers have agreed to a two-year deal with forward Ryan Spooner, avoiding arbitration with the restricted free agent.

The deal has an average annual value of $4 million, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

Spooner was acquired by New York from Boston as part of the trade that sent Rick Nash to the Bruins in February. The 26-year-old recorded 13 goals and 41 points in 59 games last season, split between the Bruins and Rangers.

Drafted with the 45th pick in 2010, the Ottawa native has 45 goals and 158 points in 273 career regular season games.
