Gene Principe catches up with Steve Ott to get his reaction to defeating the Dallas Stars in Game 7.

The Detroit Red Wings signed Steve Ott to a one-year deal on the first day of NHL free agency.

The deal is reportedly worth $800,000.

The 33-year-old UFA centreman spent the last two and a half seasons with the St. Louis Blues, though his 2015-16 campaign was cut short due to injury.

Ott, who will add depth at the forward position in Detroit, has 106 goals and 281 points in 795 career regular season games.
