Report: Capitals’ Tom Wilson avoids discipline for controversial hit

The referees would eject Tom Wilson for this hit on Brett Seney.

There will be no hearing for Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson regarding his controversial hit from Friday night.

Wilson was ejected for a hit to the head after checking New Jersey Devils Brett Seney.

The 24-year-old has had quite a history of reckless play, resulting in four previous suspensions.

Two pre-season games in 2017 for a hit on St. Louis forward Robert Thomas, four regular season games that same year for a hit on St. Louis forward Sammy Blais, three playoff games in 2018 for a hit on Pittsburgh forward Zach Aston-Reese, and then a 20-game suspension this year (since reduced to 14 games) for a hit on St. Louis forward Oskar Sundqvist.
