General Manager Steve Tambellini announced the Edmonton Oilers have recalled centre Rob Schremp from the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.
“I was just hanging out with my girlfriend when I got the call. This is where everyone wants to be so I’m excited”, said Schremp.
“I have yet to see him play a shift but I’m going to do my best to give him a decent opportunity”, said head coach Craig MacTavish. Schremp will play alongside Andrew Cogliano and Sam Gagner.
“How long he stays here is up to him. It’s easy math you have to be involved in more goals scored than involved in goals against. That’s the pass and fail mark for him”
Failing to stay with the team has been the storyline for Schremp ever since he was drafted by Edmonton 25th overall in 2004 but he has another opportuntiy to prove that he can not only get here but stay here. “I’m going to take it one day at a time and hopefully it is for the year”
Schremp has one goal and 17 assists in Springfield of the AHL and you might say he’s also one got one goal with Edmonton and the NHL, and that’s to stay an Oiler.
