The San Jose Sharks have signed goaltender Antoine Bibeau to a two-year contract extension.
Bibeau joined the Sharks as a free agent this past summer after getting non-tendered by the Toronto Maple Leafs, who selected the Victoriaville, Que., native in the sixth round of the 2013 NHL Draft (172nd overall).
“Antoine Bibeau has been an important addition to our organization,” said Sharks assistant general manager Joe Will in a release. “He has proven to be one of the best goaltenders in the American Hockey League as evidenced by his selection to the AHL All-Star Game and strong play throughout the year.
“The contract extensions of Martin Jones, Aaron Dell and now Antoine Bibeau solidify a strong goaltending core.”
The 23-year-old has a 2.09 goals-against average and .928 save percentage in 33 AHL games.
He was slated to be a restricted free agent this off-season.
