Sharks sign Mikkel Boedker to four-year, $16 million contract

Mikkel Boedker is off the market after signing a four-year contract with the defending Western Conference champions.

The Sharks, who were overmatched by the speed of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Stanley Cup final, add a speedy producer in Boedker, who spent the past season with Arizona and Colorado, after he was traded to the Avalanche at the deadline. In total, he scored 17 goals and 51 points in 80 games.

The Coyotes picked Boedker eighth overall in the 2008 draft, but he’s never hit the 20-goal plateau. He;s more of a playmaker and set a career high in helpers this season at 26 years of age.
