Lightning not loaning Drouin to Team Canada

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Jonathan Drouin will not be loaned to Team Canada for the upcoming world juniors, the team confirmed to Sportsnet Thursday.

The third-overall pick from the 2013 NHL Draft has one goal, 10 assists and averaged 13:02 of ice time in 20 games this season.

Drouin represented Team Canada at last year’s tournament where he registered nine points in seven games.

The tournament begins Dec. 26 with games taking place in Montreal and Toronto. Team Canada is scheduled to play group stage games in Montreal and knockout games in Toronto.
