Sunday started off with a bang in Maple Leafs land.
The morning after a 2-1 shootout loss to the Montreal Canadiens, the Maple Leafs dealt defenceman Cody Franson and forward Mike Santorelli to the Nashville Predators for a 2015 first-round draft pick, Olli Jokinen and prospect Brendan Leipsic.
Franson, 27, had been Toronto’s top offensive defenseman, tallying 32 points (6 goals, 26 assists) in 55 games. Santorelli, who was picked up in the offseason, had been a pleasant surprise for the Maple Leafs, notching 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists) in 57 games.
