Dale Weise thought he opened up the scoring for the Montreal Canadiens against the New York Rangers on Wednesday night, but the officials ruled otherwise.
The Canadiens forward had a open net down low in the Rangers’ zone, but he shot the puck directly into the pad of Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist. At least, that’s what the refs initially called.
On second look, it appeared that the puck may have crossed the goal line.
The play was reviewed but it was ruled inconclusive.
