Wild’s Zach Parise week-to-week with sprained MCL

James Neal lands a huge hit on Zach Parise, catching him against the boards and sending him off the ice.

Minnesota Wild forward Zach Parise has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL in his right knee and will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis, the team announced Saturday.

Parise sustained the injury on a hit from Nashville Predators forward James Neal on Thursday. The 31-year-old left the game and did not return.

“We can rule him out of the next couple of games but we don’t have much of an idea after that,” Wild head coach Mike Yeo said, via NHL.com. “I can say it’s something that’s not month-to-month. I shouldn’t guarantee that, but that’s the word that I’ve gotten so far.

“I don’t think it’s going to be multiple weeks, I don’t think it’s going to be months. And I’m not a doctor. We’ll say that he’s out the next couple of games. We have a big game [Saturday] against Tampa Bay and that’s our focus.”

Parise currently leads the Wild in goals with seven in 12 games.

The Wild host the Tampa Bay Lightning Saturday night.
