Xavier Ouellet signs two-way contract with Canadiens

After being bought out by the Detroit Red Wings, defenceman Xavier Ouellet has found a new home with the Montreal Canadiens.

Ouellet agreed to a one-year, two-way contract that is valued at $700,000 at the NHL level.

The 24-year-old played 45 games for Detroit last season, registering zero goals and seven assists averaging 13:51 per game.

Ouellet was picked in the second round (48th overall) by Detroit in 2011.
