The Toronto Blue Jays have added depth behind the plate.
The club acquired catcher Owen Carapellotti from the Athletics in exchange for right-hander Hayden Juenger, the team announced Saturday.
Carapellotti has appeared in 20 games with the Athletics' single-A affiliate in Stockton, Calif. this season. The 23-year-old owns a .267/.389/.627 slash line with three doubles, eight home runs, 20 RBIs, 15 walks and a 1.016 OPS.
The Ann Arbor, Mich., native signed with the Athletics as an undrafted free agent in the summer of 2025 after playing four seasons at Georgetown University.
Juenger made his MLB debut with the Blue Jays this season, appearing in two games and allowing three runs. The 25-year-old spent most of the year with triple-A Buffalo, posting a 2.59 ERA with 28 strikeouts and nine walks over 24.1 innings across 21 appearances.
Toronto selected Juenger in the sixth round of the 2021 MLB Draft out of Missouri State University.
