The Toronto Blue Jays' battered bullpen received some relief on Friday with the activation of right-hander Tyler Chatwood. Left-hander Anthony Kay was optioned to the team's alternate training site in a corresponding move.
Chatwood has been on the injured list since April 9 with triceps inflammation. In 2.2 innings over three appearances this season Chatwood has yet to allow a run with one walk and three strikeouts.

Ahead of Friday's meeting with the Rays, manager Charlie Montoyo had some updates on a number of other injured Blue Jays:
• Outfielder Teoscar Hernandez has been cleared from COVID-19 protocols and returned to the team facilities. He will be given a couple of days to ramp up his conditioning before being inserted back in the lineup.
• Outfielder George Springer will play centrefield in an intrasquad game Friday night and his next steps will be determined on Saturday. Montoyo initially announced that Nate Pearson would also pitch in that game, but the Blue Jays later clarified that he will now pitch Saturday in a game against the Miami Marlins' alternate site players.
• Right-hander Jordan Romano could be activated from the IL Saturday if his throwing session goes well Friday. Romano has been on the IL since April 14 with an elbow issue.
• Right-hander Tanner Roark was placed on the Family Medical Emergency List. Left-hander Travis Bergen was recalled from the alternate training site in his place.
The Blue Jays open a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field Friday night. The first pitch flies at 7:10 p.m. ET on Sportsnet ONE.
