The Toronto Blue Jays announced that they have placed right-handed pitcher Trevor Richards on the 15-day injured list. The reliever is out with a neck strain.

To take Richards' place, the Blue Jays have recalled left-hander Matt Gage from triple-A Buffalo. The 29-year-old will be active in Saturday night's matchup against the league-leading New York Yankees.

Gage pitched five innings over four games for Toronto this season and held a 1.80 ERA with three strikeouts.
