Shane Bieber's latest rehab start was his best yet.
The Toronto Blue Jays right-hander pitched five shutout innings for the triple-A Buffalo Bisons on Thursday.
Bieber had four strikeouts and allowed five hits with one walk against the Syracuse Mets.
It was his fourth rehab start and second with the Bisons. He allowed three runs in 2.2 innings last week.
The former Cy Young winner has yet to make an MLB start this season as he continues to build up from a delayed start to spring training. Bieber had Tommy John surgery in 2024 and returned to the mound last August, making seven starts for the Blue Jays and five more appearances in the playoffs.
Catcher Alejandro Kirk was also in the lineup for the Bisons on Thursday ahead of his possible return this weekend from thumb surgery. Kirk was the DH on Thursday and had a double in three at-bats.
The Bisons won the game 3-1.
