The Toronto Blue Jays have their starting shortstop back in the fold.
Andrés Giménez is set to return to Toronto's lineup for Saturday's game against the Texas Rangers, batting eighth after missing a pair of contests with hamstring soreness.
The 28-year-old initially exited Tuesday's game against the Detroit Tigers with the injury in the eighth inning before sitting out Wednesday and Friday.
Although he didn't make it into Friday's series opener against the Rangers, Blue Jays manager John Schneider said pre-game that the three-time Gold Glover would have been available off the bench if needed.
He's hitting .243/.288/.359 with nine home runs and 57 RBIs in 140 games this season.
On the defensive side of the ball, Giménez ranks ninth among qualified major-league shortstops with one defensive run saved and second with 19 outs above average.
