Jameson Taillon's first home start with the Toronto Blue Jays was shaping up to be a good one until the injury bug bit the veteran right-hander.
Taillon left Monday's game against the Boston Red Sox after four shutout innings with an apparent injury.
It is not clear what forced the 34-year-old to exit, but after completing the fourth, Taillon came into the dugout and spoke with Blue Jays manager John Schneider and team training staff.
Toronto later announced that Taillon was lifted with right forearm discomfort.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters after the game that Taillon will go for an MRI. Schneider added that Toronto wanted to be proactive and that's why it removed him from the game.
The recently recalled Simeon Woods Richardson entered the game to take his place in the fifth.
Taillon had collected three strikeouts while allowing one hit and three walks over 61 pitches against the Red Sox at Rogers Centre.
It was his second outing with Toronto since being acquired from the Chicago Cubs before the Aug. 3 trade deadline.
In his first Blue Jays outing against the Houston Astros on Aug. 5, the six-foot-five Taillon pitched four innings of three-run ball.
