Kazuma Okamoto is back in the Toronto Blue Jays starting lineup.
After being scratched late each of the past two days with a knee contusion, Okamoto was included in Toronto's initial lineup Wednesday against the Boston Red Sox (Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT).
Okamoto will bat fifth as the designated hitter.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Monday that Okamoto is considered day-to-day as he recovers from the injury.
The 30-year-old from Japan, who typically plays third base, leads the Blue Jays with 24 home runs and 70 RBIs in his rookie season.
His placement at DH means George Springer will begin the game on the bench. Blue Jays manager said Springer is getting a day to ease the burden on his shoulder, but is available off the bench for Wednesday's game.
Toronto will once again go with two rookies at the top as third baseman Charles McAdoo leads off ahead of right fielder Brett Bateman in the two-hole. The Blue Jays are looking to clinch the four-game series against the Red Sox after winning each of the first two games.
Newcomer Jose Soriano will get the start in his home debut opposite Red Sox all-star left-hander Ranger Suarez.
