Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider saw his afternoon come to an early end on Sunday.
Schneider was ejected in the eighth inning against the New York Yankees after arguing a balk call issued against right-handed reliever Jeff Hoffman.
With Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. on second base, Hoffman attempted an inside move that home-plate umpire Steven Jaschinski determined to be illegal and ruled as a balk.
Schneider came out to dispute the ruling before getting the heave from Jaschinski.
After being tossed, Schneider made sure to get his money's worth, staying on the field to argue with multiple other umpires on the field.
"Upset at the balk, initially, and then upset about some other things," Schneider said after what ended as an 8-3 Blue Jays defeat. "It's not why we lost, but I think Hoff has a good inside move. He's done it quite a bit this year; that's kind of what I was relaying to them.
"Didn't think it was a balk. Thought that they could've maybe put as much focus and attention as they did with the 10-minute conversation with Jose Caballero, who seems to have a problem with the pitch clock."
Earlier in the game, Caballero and Jaschinski had a long discussion in the middle of an at-bat as the Yankees utilityman was issued a warning for delaying the game.
It is Schneider's second ejection of the season and the 14th of his career.
Despite the call putting Chisholm on third with just one out, Hoffman buckled down to strike out Max Schuemann and Anthony Volpe to escape the inning.
