Toronto Blue Jays fans must be encouraged by Nate Pearson’s latest outing with the Buffalo Bisons.
The pitcher, who is nearing a return to the Blue Jays lineup, retired all three batters he faced in one inning of work Thursday against the Syracuse Mets.
“I felt pretty good,” Pearson told Ben Ennis and Shi Davidi during an appearance on Baseball Central on Sportsnet 590 The Fan Friday afternoon. “I’m just thankful to be back on the mound and feeling pretty good just taking one outing at a time.”
Nagging groin and sports hernia issues he described as “pretty frustrating” have plagued Pearson’s season.
In addition to his rehab assignment, the 2017 first-round pick also touched on his arsenal of pitches, how he approaches a relief appearance opposed to a start, and what adjustments he is making to avoid another groin injury.

Pearson, who turned 25 on Friday, hasn’t suited up for the Blue Jays since a horrible outing back on May 9.
He pitched 18 total innings as a rookie in 2020, allowing 12 earned runs, 13 walks and 16 strikeouts.
Pearson added that he plans on returning to a starter’s role with the Blue Jays after this season.
