The Toronto Blue Jays roster will have a new look on Monday.
New acquisitions Jameson Taillon and Josh Smith will be active against the Houston Astros, the team announced. You can watch the game at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
Taillon, a right-handed pitcher, was acquired from the Chicago Cubs on Sunday. He's struggled in his fourth season with the Cubs and was designated for assignment on July 27. He has posted a 5.92 ERA with a 1.355 WHIP in 15 starts with the ballclub.
Smith, an infielder, was brought in from the Texas Rangers earlier on Monday. He was an above-league-average hitter over the previous two seasons before struggling this year. He's slashing .213/.299/.272 and has been a negative defender by Statcast's fielding run value.
The Blue Jays also recalled right-hander Lazaro Estrada from triple-A, and optioned John Klein to Buffalo. Klein, another right-hander, was acquired from the Twins in the Jeff Hoffman trade.
