Kazuma Okamoto has put his name among some of the greatest Japanese players to ever play in MLB.
The Toronto Blue Jays rookie slugger belted a home run in the second inning against the Athletics on Tuesday to become the fifth Japanese player in league history to hit 30 home runs in a season.
Okamoto joins Shohei Ohtani, Hideki Matsui, Seiya Suzuki and Munetaka Murakami as the only Japanese players to complete the feat.
It's just another accolade for Okamoto in what has been a sensational first MLB season for the 30-year-old third baseman.
Okamoto already set the Blue Jays record for most home runs by a rookie in a season when he belted his 25th of the year against the Tampa Bay Rays in August.
He's also already broken Ohtani's record (18 in 2018) for most home runs by a Japanese-born rookie in MLB history, but he's in a battle with Murakami to see who will have the mark after this year. The latter also has 30 for the Chicago White Sox.
Okamoto's 30 home runs are 16 more than the next-closest Blue Jay this season.
For a team that's been starved for offence all season, who knows where the Blue Jays would be without Okamoto's bat in the lineup.
