Yimi Garcia is headed back to the injured list.
The Toronto Blue Jays placed the right-handed reliever on the 15-day IL with a left ankle sprain, the team announced on Saturday.
Righty Robinson Piña was recalled from triple-A Buffalo in a subsequent move and was active for Saturday's extra-inning win against the Los Angeles Angels.
Following the contest, Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters that Garcia sprained his ankle slipping while getting into the recovery tubs after his last outing against the New York Yankees on Wednesday.
Garcia will undergo an MRI to determine the extent of his injury.
The 34-year-old, who was traded by Toronto to Seattle at the trade deadline last season and re-signed in the off-season, owns a 3.86 ERA in 21 innings for Toronto this season. He was previously placed on the IL with a shoulder injury on May 24, and returned to action on Thursday.
Piña was acquired from Miami on June 25 and was optioned to triple-A Buffalo, where he's allowed one earned run in two innings. With triple-A Jacksonville, the reliever posted a 3.47 ERA in 57 innings.
The 26-year-old also made his Big League debut this season, tossing one inning with the Marlins. Piña was previously added to the Blue Jays' taxi squad on Saturday.
