Blue Jays recall Ryan Borucki; option Trent Thornton to triple-A Buffalo

The Toronto Blue Jays announced Monday they have recalled Ryan Borucki from triple-A Buffalo.

The left-handed pitcher will be active in tonight's game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

To make room on the active roster, the Blue Jays optioned RHP Trent Thornton to the Bisons.

Borucki was sent to the minors on Aug. 7, after seven relief appearances where he posted a 7.50 ERA and 1.67 WHIP. The 27-year-old will look to improve on his 2021 season with the Blue Jays, where he currently has a 3-1 record with a 5.12 ERA.

Thornton is 1-3 with a 4.78 ERA in 49 innings pitched.
