The Milwaukee Brewers will have their ace on the mound as they look to lock down the first World Series title in franchise history.
Jacob Misiorowski will take the ball in Game 5 on Wednesday at Tropicana Field against the Tampa Bay Rays (8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+).
Brewers manager Pat Murphy confirmed that the 24-year-old right-hander would get the start following Tuesday's 4-3 extra-inning loss.
Misiorowski made his way down to the bullpen once the game extended beyond nine innings, but didn't end up entering the game — even after Milwaukee took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 12th.
"You can't blow that type of situation with a one-run lead on the road," Murphy said when asked if Misiorowski was an option to pitch on Tuesday. "If we were in the 13th inning, and we had a three-run lead, that might be a little bit different. But probably still wouldn't have (used him)."
The Rays have yet to announce their starter for Game 5. Nick Martinez was on turn after pitching Game 1 of the series, but ended up throwing two innings and 33 pitches in relief in Game 4.
Misiorowski threw five innings of one-run ball against Tampa Bay in Game 1 of the World Series and tossed the fastest pitch in the history of the Fall Classic when his first offering of the outing reached 103.5 m.p.h.
It was his third start of this post-season and lowered his 2026 playoff ERA to 2.75. He previously tossed 4.1 innings of one-run ball against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS and allowed two runs over four innings against the San Diego Padres in the NLDS.
His playoff run comes on the heels of a regular season that has the six-foot-seven hurler positioned to win the NL Cy Young. Over 174 innings in 2026, "The Miz" racked up an MLB-best 252 strikeouts while carrying a 16-5 record and 1.80 ERA.
