Robert Gasser will have a tough test on his hands.
The Milwaukee Brewers have tabbed Gasser to square off against the Tampa Bay Rays' Freddy Peralta in Game 3 of the World Series on Monday, per USA Today's Bob Nightengale.
Gasser last appeared for the Brewers in Game 3 of the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers, pitching five innings of shutout ball while striking out three and giving up three hits.
It was a breakout season for the 27-year-old, who earned a full-time starting spot for the Brewers while posting a 3.87 ERA and 1.189 WHIP over 21 appearances (20 starts). He had previously made only seven appearances in MLB across the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
In the post-season, Gasser has a 1.00 ERA and 0.889 WHIP across two starts.
Peralta, meanwhile, is coming off an ALCS MVP run in the Rays' six-game win over the Cleveland Guardians. In his three appearances (two starts) against Cleveland, he posted a 0.56 ERA while striking out 14 and giving up eight hits in 16 innings.
The 30-year-old, acquired at the deadline from the New York Mets, has turned his season around in a big way since heading to Tampa, posting a 3.25 ERA in 10 regular-season starts with the Rays.
The two-time all-star will now get the chance to square off against his former team, with whom he spent the first eight years of his MLB career.
