George Springer is not in the Toronto Blue Jays‘ starting lineup for the third consecutive night on Wednesday as he recovers from a lingering quadriceps issue.
Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said Springer underwent an MRI and the team is awaiting the results to determine a course of action.
Springer hasn’t played since Sunday, when he was lifted in the sixth inning of the club’s 7-2 win over the Atlanta Braves due to leg fatigue.
The 31-year-old made his Blue Jays debut on April 28 and served as the team’s designated hitter for four games, recording a .200 batting average with two home runs and three RBIs in 15 at-bats. The star outfielder spent the beginning of the season recovering from separate oblique and quadriceps issues.
Montoyo also announced ace pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu will be activated from the injured list and start Thursday’s series finale against the Oakland Athletics.
