With 162 games come and gone across Major League Baseball, a number of statistical milestones were set in stone on Sunday as the season came to a close.
In years past, slam-dunk MVPs such as Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani have dominated baseball's leaderboards, but 2026 saw a new wave of talent climb its way into the history books.
In both the American and National Leagues, we saw a pair of first-time batting champs, as Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez and Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno led their respective circuits in batting average.
Moreno is the first Diamondbacks player to capture the NL batting crown and only the fifth catcher in MLB history to do so, joining Buster Poster, Joe Mauer, Ernie Lombardi and Bubbles Hargrave, per MLB.com's Sarah Langs.
Baltimore Orioles first baseman Pete Alonso made some history of his own by pacing the AL with 113 RBIs, becoming the first player to ever claim the RBI title in both leagues. He previously paced the NL as a member of the New York Mets in 2022.
On the mound, Jacob Misiorowski dominated the leaderboards with his 1.80 ERA and 252 strikeouts, coming a few wins short of a pitching Triple Crown.
Canadians Otto Lopez and Cade Smith also ranked among baseball's top performers this season, as Lopez finished as the MLB hits king and Smith tied for the MLB lead in saves.
