After a shaky 2024 season, Cal Quantrill has found a new baseball home.
The Miami Marlins have agreed to a one-year deal with the Canadian right-hander, ESPN's Alden Gonzalez reported Wednesday.
Quantrill was non-tendered by the Colorado Rockies in November after posting a 4.98 ERA and issuing a National League-leading 69 walks last season.
Pitching at a notoriously bad home stadium for pitchers, Quantrill faltered down the stretch after a strong start (3.13 ERA in his first 12 starts).
The 30-year-old native of Port Hope, Ont., has a career 4.07 ERA in a six-year career with the San Diego Padres, Cleveland Guardians and Rockies. He joins a Marlins team that finished last in the NL East in 2024.
Quantrill is the son of former major-league pitcher Paul Quantrill.
