MLB player participation in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics has been thrown into doubt.
The league and union hit a snag in negotiations to send players to the Games, ESPN's Jeff Passan reported on Tuesday.
Disagreements between the sides include hotel rooms, tickets and a mandatory-participation agreement and have spanned months, per Passan, as Olympics organizers seek a resolution.
The plan to send MLBers to the Olympics for the first time would include an 11-day break in the 2028 schedule featuring a Los Angeles All-Star Game leading into the international competition.
Active MLB players have never competed at the Olympics. NHLers returned for the first time after a 12-year absence at the Milano-Cortina Olympics in February.
