Fresh off a stint on the injured list, Konnor Griffin could be heading back.
The Pittsburgh Pirates rookie shortstop may miss some time once again after suffering a torn tendon in his left ring finger, ESPN's Jeff Passan reported Tuesday.
According to Passan, Griffin could play through it, but rehab is the likeliest option. He'd likely miss at least a month should he opt for recovery.
Griffin, 20, suffered the injury on Sunday against the Washington Nationals while making a stunning diving catch in the outfield.
Though he managed to lay out for the grab, he landed awkwardly on his left hand and was looked at by a trainer. He remained in the game.
Griffin returned from the IL on June 26 after missing more than a month with a right forearm flexor strain.
Ranked as the No. 1 prospect by MLB Pipeline heading into the 2026 season, Griffin has enjoyed a solid rookie season since getting the call in early April. He's batting .276 with a .736 OPS, five home runs and 20 stolen bases in 59 games this year.
The Pirates (46-45) are trending towards their first season above. 500 since 2018, when they finished 82-79. They haven't made the playoffs since the 2015 season.
