Thor has returned.
Pitcher Noah Syndergaard has signed a minor-league contract with the Chicago White Sox, according to multiple reports on Tuesday.
Syndergaard, the once-dominant ace, has not pitched in the majors since 2023 when he split 18 starts between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Cleveland Guardians.
The 32-year-old will report to Chicago's training complex in Glendale, Ariz.
Nicknamed “Thor” for his long blond hair and six-foot-six frame, Syndergaard debuted for the New York Mets in 2015 and won a World Series start that season.
Over the first four years of his career with the Mets, Syndergaard — who was acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays in the R.A. Dickey trade — made 77 starts and never posted an ERA above 3.24 from his rookie year.
In 2016, his sophomore season, Syndergaard made his lone all-star team and placed eighth in Cy Young voting.
But injuries derailed his career soon after. He missed the entire 2020 season and after a final year with the Mets in 2021, he bounced between the Los Angeles Angels, Philadelphia Phillies, Dodgers and Guardians.
Syndergaard is 59-47 with a 3.71 ERA in eight major league seasons.
Now, he'll aim to resurrect his career in Chicago.
