The Milwaukee Brewers' Game 1 win over the San Diego Padres in their National League Division Series had one of the more bizarre endings in recent memory.
Down 3-2 in the ninth inning, with one out and a runner on first base, Padres first baseman Ty France launched a moonshot down the left-field line.
The ball appeared to potentially be on a trajectory to clear the fence. Instead, it caromed off the retractable roof at American Family Field and found Jackson Chourio's glove in left field.
After the Padres challenged, the out call on the field was upheld by video review.
While it's uncertain whether the ball would have left the yard — especially given its sky-high launch angle of 49 degrees — the Padres were still visibly distraught at the prospect of a potential go-ahead homer being taken away by the roof.
Their disbelief quickly turned into amusement for the baseball fans on social media.
