The son of a Hall of Famer is headed to Chicago.
The White Sox drafted Landon Thome 34th overall in the 2026 MLB Draft.
Landon is the son of Jim Thome, a Cleveland Guardians legend who now serves as a special assistant to the general manager for the White Sox. Jim hit 612 home runs and had 1699 RBIs during his 22-year career.
The 18-year-old was the 34th-ranked prospect in the draft.
Thome can play around the infield at second, third and shortstop. He is a left-handed batter with good speed, as he swiped 54 bags on 56 attempts last season.
