Another aged football star appears to be making his way to Major League Soccer.
Polish striker Robert Lewandowski has reportedly agreed to join the Chicago Fire after visiting the club and city two weeks ago, per soccer insider Fabrizio Romano on Sunday.
Lewandowski, 37, has played for La Liga's Barcelona since 2022 and is widely regarded as one of the greatest strikers of all time. He's one of just five players to score at least 100 goals with three different clubs and ranks third all-time for goals (109) in Champions League action.
He's Poland's all-time top scorer, and he's captained The Eagles since 2014. Lewandowski's 89 international goals trail only Lionel Messi (123) and Cristiano Ronaldo (145) on the men's all-time leaderboard for one's country.
Before joining Barcelona, Lewandowski's career truly took off in the Bundesliga, first with Borussia Dortmund (2010-2014) and then Bayern Munich (2014-2022).
The 2021 Ballon d'Or runner-up now joins a long list of football greats to take their talents to North America, including the likes of David Beckham, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Lionel Messi.
According to Romano, Lewandowski is expected to sign with Chicago early next week. The Fire currently sit third in the Eastern Conference with an 8-2-4 record, and five points behind Messi's Inter Miami.
