Kevin Ferguson Jr., the son of the late Kimbo Slice, came up short in his professional MMA debut Saturday at Bellator 165.

He was submitted in the second round of a 165-pound catchweight bout against Aaron Hamilton.

Unlike his father, Ferguson relied heavily on grappling. The 24-year-old started strongly and carried most of the action but succumbed to a guillotine choke three minutes into the second stanza. Hamilton was 0-2 as a pro prior to Saturday.

Ferguson won his first and only amateur MMA bout back in March after he stopped his opponent in 83 seconds. He has been training in MMA full time for less than two years.

Kimbo Slice, a world-famous backyard brawler turned cage fighter, died at age 42 in early June.
