Former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson will face former Strikeforce champion Josh Thomson in the main event at UFC on FOX 10 that takes place Jan. 25 at the United Center in Chicago.
UFC president Dana White made the announcement at the UFC 167 post-fight press conference.
Henderson (19-3) is coming off a submission loss to Anthony Pettis at UFC 164 that cost him his championship belt.
Thomson (20-5) was scheduled to face Pettis in the main event of UFC on FOX 9 on Dec. 14 in Sacramento, but a knee injury forced Pettis off the card. Thomson earned a title shot by knocking out Nate Diaz in April because No. 1 contender T.J. Grant of Nova Scotia is still recovering from a concussion he suffered in the summer.
The UFC also announced a middleweight bout between former Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold and fellow middleweight contender Constantinos Philippou will headline UFC Fight Night 35 on Jan. 15 in Duluth, Ga.
Rockhold and Philippou are both looking to bounce back from losses in their last outings to Vitor Belfort and Francis Carmont, respectively.
