A bout between welterweight contenders Hector Lombard and Dong Hyun Kim was named the co-main event for an Aug. 23 UFC Fight Night event in Macau.
UFC president Dana White made the announcement following the UFC 173 post-fight press conference Saturday in Las Vegas.
Lombard (34-4-1, 1 NC) has look dominant in wins over Jake Shields and Nate Marquardt since the Cuban-Australian decided to make the drop to 170 pounds last year. The former Olympic judoka has won 26 of his fights by knockout or submission. Lombard, 36, is a former Bellator champion with wins over Rousimar Palhares, Alexander Shlemenko and Canadian Joe Doerksen.
Kim (19-2-1, 1 NC) is on a four-fight win streak inside the Octagon including back-to-back knockouts of Erick Silva and John Hathaway. The 32-year-old South Korean has beaten the likes of Matt Brown, Nate Diaz and T.J. Grant.
A win could potentially earn either man a title shot in the crowded welterweight division.
The event, which takes place at the CotaiArena, is headlined by popular middleweights Cung Le and Michael Bisping.
