Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson was scheduled to fight Ray Borg in the main event of UFC 215 in Edmonton, however the flyweight championship tilt was moved to UFC 216 after Borg had to withdraw with an illness.
Johnson (26–2–1) has the opportunity to set a new UFC record for consecutive title defences. He is currently tied with Anderson Silva at 10 consecutive title defences. Johnson won the inaugural 125-pound title back at UFC 152 in 2012 and hasn’t looked back since.
Borg (11-2) isn’t being given much of a chance in this one, although the 24-year-old trains out of the Jackson Wink MMA Academy in Albuquerque, N.M., and has an uncanny ability to take his opponent’s back. Five of his 11 career wins have been by rear-naked choke. Borg is the No. 3-ranked flyweight contender and coming off back-to-back unanimous decision victories over Louis Smolka and Jussier Formiga.
